Where Great Design Meets Great Making

At Peters of Millburn, craftsmanship is the quiet signature behind every silhouette. We partner with ateliers that honor time-tested methods—joinery you can’t see but can feel, finishes built up in patient layers, and textiles chosen for beauty as well as longevity. Luxury, to us, is not loud; it’s the certainty that a piece will live gracefully for decades.

From kiln-dried hardwood frames to hand-stitched seams and hardware cast in solid brass, our furniture is designed to be used, loved, and passed on.

Materials That Endure

Hardwoods

FSC-certified oak, ash, walnut—kiln-dried to stability; veneers are book-matched for continuous grain.

Metals

Solid brass, bronze, and blackened steel with living finishes that age with character, not chips.

Textiles

Belgian linen, mohair velvet, bouclé, and performance blends—soft hand, durable weave, stain-smart tech.

Built the Right Way

  • Mortise-and-tenon tables; dowel-joined chairs for lifetime strength.
  • Frames in kiln-dried hardwood; corner blocks screwed & glued.
  • Dovetailed drawers with soft-close glides and solid wood boxes.
  • Seat comfort calibrated with feather/down & resilient foam cores.

The Finish Makes the Piece

Finishes are applied by hand in multiple steps to amplify grain and depth—not mask it.

  • Cerused and wire-brushed woods that highlight natural texture.
  • Hand-rubbed oils and waxes for a touchable, low-sheen glow.
  • Lacquer and catalyzed sealers where extra protection is needed.

Custom, Without Compromise

Tailor the details—width, depth, fabric, hardware, and finish. Our design team prototypes with scale drawings and material boards to ensure proportion, comfort, and performance. Custom pieces are built to the same internal spec as our in-line models—no shortcuts hidden beneath the surface.

Responsible Luxury

  • Responsibly harvested woods & recycled content metals where possible.
  • Low-VOC finishes; packaging engineered to reduce waste.
  • Repairable construction—replaceable cushions, serviceable hardware.
  • Longevity first: pieces designed to be reupholstered, refinished, and kept.

Care & Maintenance

Wood

Wipe dry; avoid standing liquids and harsh cleaners. Refresh oiled finishes annually.

Upholstery

Vacuum with soft brush; blot, don’t rub. Professional clean for stubborn spills.

Metal

Let unlacquered brass patina naturally; polish lightly if brighter tone is desired.
